Recognize Signs Of Gynephobia (Fear Of Women)

Recognize Signs of Gynephobia (Fear of Women)

Also known as Gynephobia, Gynophobia derives from the Greek 'Gyno' (woman) and the Greek 'Phobia' (fear). More common than generally considered, it is an unusual, continuous and unjustifiable fear of women. Its effects on someone's social life can be significant. Although potent drugs that suppress the symptoms can be prescribed, permanent treatment can occur with counseling, psychotherapy, hypnosis or Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

Instructions

1. Ensure that the person in question exhibits potentially phobic behavior towards all women, irrespective of age, nationality and personality type, at all times. Rule out simpler reasons such as recovery from a devastating relationship or allergy to cosmetics.

2. Observe the person's privacy zone near and around women. Most people in North America interact with strangers from a distance of approximately three feet. If the person in question continually seeks to increase that distance from women then that can be a sign of anxiety and phobia.

3. Pay attention to the person's communication skills and body language when near and around women. If they are unable to feel relaxed and articulate words or sentences in a coherent manner, that be a sign of higher than normal anxiety. Ensure that the person in question is not shy. It is common for shy men to behave strangely around women they feel an attraction towards.

4. Detect the more subtle symptoms. They are difficult to detect. They can include rapid breathing, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, excessive sweating, dry mouth, nausea and shaking. If any or all of these symptoms seem to disable someone's social functioning then it is possible they suffer from fear of women.
