Acupressure for Knee Pain
Though the pharmaceutical industry has developed many drugs useful in pain management, some seek natural drug free therapies to alleviate their daily pain. A very common medical condition is knee pain, and acupressure therapy can be helpful in relieving minor discomfort.
What is Acupressure?
Acupressure is a Chinese therapy based on the principles of acupuncture. Acupressure is done without the use of needles. Instead, pressure is applied at certain points with your fingers.
Common Pressure Points
There are nine common pressure points located in the knee area that can be targeted to alleviate pain. There are three in the front, four on the sides, and two in the back.
Self Treatment
Apply pressure at these points for one minute three times daily. Use the inside of your finger tips for optimal results, according to Michael Reed Gach, Ph.D., director of the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California.

If you are not comfortable with self-treatment seek out a professional. Acupressure is a form of massage, so finding someone you are comfortable with is key.
