Deal With Bloody Urine

Bloody urine or also known as hematuria can be caused by over-exercise. However, in rare cases, bloody urine is caused by serious conditions, including bladder cancer, kidney disease or internal injuries. It is important to seek medical help whenever you detect blood in the urine.

Instructions

1. Urine with blood can be either red or brown or looks like cola. If there is only a small amount of blood in the urine, the urine may have a smoky appearance.Ask the victim what he ate or drunk before detecting blood in the urine. Ask whether he took any medication that might cause internal bleeding. Bloody urine may come with other symptoms such as abdominal pain, bladder pain, fever, swelling of face or ankles or nausea.

2. Call 911 immediately if there is massive bleeding in the urine. Lay the victim down in a comfortable position. Keep his egs elevated. Keep him warm with a blanket. If he vomits, have him lie on the left side to prevent vomiting.

3. Avoid giving the victim food, drink or medication unless permitted by doctors.

4. Follow up with a doctor if the bleeding is not too serious. If a person is 50 year or older, frequent bloody urine is an indicator of a serious condition.

5. Urine tests can be used to identify the sources of blood in the urine. Other tests that help to determine the cause of bloody urine include various blood tests, CT scan, kidney ultrasound and cystoscopy.
