Relieve A Headache

Everyone deals with a headache from time to time. And in most cases, headaches are mild and disappear without treatment. But if dealing with a lingering headache, you're likely in search of a fast remedy. Fortunately, there are quick ways to relieve a headache.

Instructions

1. Buy over-the-counter medication. OTC drugs are highly effective with relieving a headache. Take acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen sodium as directed.

2. Massage your forehead. Muscle tension contributes to headaches. Sit in a quiet room, close your eyes and gently massage your forehead. Relax your body to ease the facial muscles and relieve a headache.

3. Use a cold pack. Apply an ice pack or a package of frozen vegetables to your forehead for 20 minutes throughout the day as needed.

4. Take a hot bath. The warmth from a hot bath or hot tub relaxes the mind and tense muscles, which in turn can relieve a headache.

5. Get plenty of rest. Sleeping less than six hours a night can cause fatigue and headaches. Strive to sleep at least eight hours a night; if possible, take a nap during the day.

6. Eat four to five small meals a day. To keep your blood sugar stable, which can relieve and prevent a headache, eat small meals throughout the day -- perhaps every two to three hours.
