Herbs
Herbs are useful in treating HPV, because many of them have anti-viral qualities or serve to boost the immune system that has to fight the virus. Western red cedar, for instance, may work by stimulating CD4-T cells, which combat cells that are infected with viruses. Women can use red cedar by soaking a tampon in it and then inserting the tampon. Other herbs that may be useful include goldenseal, tea tree oil and astragalus.
Lotions/Creams (Aloe)
Natural creams and lotions can be applied to the affected skin for relief of HPV symptoms. The easiest (and probably most natural) lotion available is aloe taken directly from an aloe plant. Aloe is well-known for its ability to sooth and heal.
Diet
Improving one's diet is another way to combat HPV naturally. Many foods contain anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals that help to boost the immune system so that it can fight the virus. Some of these foods include broccoli, avocados, figs and carrots, which all are believed to contain cancer-fighting agents.
Relaxation
Stress has a strong impact on the immune system of the body. When a person is stressed, her immune system weakens, and, consequently, the individual becomes less able to fight off disease. Employing simple techniques of relaxation, meditation, massage and others may improve one's HPV symptoms. Additionally, staying positive about the condition may have the same benefits, because the individual does not become anxious about being ill.
Considerations
Regardless of which holistic treatment an individual chooses, it should be remembered that HPV still can be spread even if symptoms are improving, and precautions thus need to be taken to keep the virus contained. If you are having someone assist you in applying aloe, for example, make sure he wears gloves and washes his hands.
