Where Do You Find Eucalyptus Trees

Eucalyptus trees can grow on almost every continent.

The eucalyptus tree is one of the world's most popular trees. The scent of its leaves reportedly improves mental alertness, refreshes people's moods and clears the sinuses, according to the University of Colorado. Its popularity, however, has grown from its humble origins on a single continent.

Origins

Eucalyptus trees are native to Australia. American travelers brought the eucalyptus to the United States, according to archivist Robert L. Santos at California State University. Australians who flocked to California during the Gold Rush in 1849 also brought it with them.

Modern Locations

Today, the eucalyptus tree grows on almost every continent, according to Santos. It is especially popular in Australia and California, though it graces home gardens around the world.

Growing Eucalyptus

The hardy eucalyptus tree survives in dry climates, according to the PBS website--which is part of what makes it popular across the planet. It is also one of the world's fastest growing trees, growing 6 to 8 feet per year.
