What Is Cyclobenzaprine

Cyclobenzaprine is used, usually with therapy, to relieve pain associated with muscle spasms. As with any medication, there are side effects and risks. Types








The different name brands of this medicine are Amrix, Fexmid, and Flexeril.


Function


This medicine is for pain associated with muscle spasms; it also works with certain muscle injuries.


Warning


Patients are not supposed to take this medicine if they take an MAO inhibitor, have had congestive heart failure, heart rhythm disorder, overactive thyroid or heart block.


Side Effects


Vomiting, diarrhea, gas pain, drowsiness, heart palpitations, jaundice, facial edema, rash, weakness, seizure, insomnia, sweating, tinnitus, weight gain or loss, impaired urination and breast swelling. There is also a risk of addiction to the medicine.


Interactions With Other Medicines


Interactions with other medicines include MAO inhibitors, alcohol, barbiturates, some heart medications and some antidepressants.
