Grants For Infertility Treatment

An infertility diagnosis is hard enough to handle on its own. Paying for infertility treatment just adds insult to injury. There are some organizations that provide grants and scholarships for infertility treatment depending on the reason, your financial status and your insurance coverage.

Fertile Dreams IVF Scholarship

Fertile Dreams Organization provides three scholarships worth $10,000 each to cover the costs of in vitro fertilization. Interested parties must fill out an application, write a short essay on their infertility history, provide a written IVF recommendation from their doctor and provide financial data. Pay stubs and other questions about finances are not used to select recipients, but rather to determine that the applicant is financially capable of caring for a child.

Same sex couples are eligible with proof of relationship stability (i.e., length of relationship, commitment, etc.). Single women are eligible, but must provide details about their support system and plans on handling single parenthood. The female partner undergoing the procedure must be under 40 at the time of the IVF cycle. Applicants must have health insurance to cover the pregnancy, but grants are only available to those without infertility coverage.

InterNational Council for Infertility Information Dissemination Scholarship

The InterNational Council for Infertility Information Dissemination (INCIID) scholarship provides one donated IVF cycle to couples who qualify. Award is based on financial need as well as medical need. Applicants must provide documentation from their doctor stating that IVF is medically necessary. Applicants must not have infertility insurance coverage.

To be considered, applicants must be a contributing member of the INCIID organization, donating at least $55 per year.

Applicants must complete a full application (available July 15 of the year before the grant will be issued), be a U.S. citizen and live in the United States, provide documented proof of infertility and submit a $40 application fee.

New York State IVF Grant

Residents of New York state may qualify for the NYS IVF grant, provided through Kreiner IVF and Associates. The grant covers up to two IVF cycles, including medication. Applicants must be a N.Y. state resident between 21 and 44 years old, have private insurance (non-state insurance) and make less than $195,000 per year.

Patients with a very low likelihood of success with IVF are ineligible for the grant. Conditions that may render one ineligible include abnormal FSH levels, three or more failed IVF cycles and several IVF cycles canceled due to poor response.
