Replace The Orings In A Single Control Kohler Faucet

Replace the O-Rings in a Single Control Kohler Faucet

Single-control Kohler faucets have just one handle to control water pressure and temperature. Like all faucets, the Kohler single-control faucet has o-rings that prevent the faucet from leaking. These o-rings can leak after extended use and the o-rings need replacing when this happens. This is not difficult to do yourself and could save you the expense of paying a plumber to do it.

Instructions

1. Turn off the water to your sink. There should be two valves underneath the sink, one for hot and the other for cold. Turn the valve handles clockwise until they won't turn anymore.

2. Loosen the screw on the handle and remove it to expose the bonnet, which looks like a dome with the hole in the top of it. Some handles require a hex key to remove them.

3. Unscrew the bonnet by turning it counterclockwise and then remove it. This will expose the mounting nut.

4. Pull the whole faucet assembly off the body of the faucet by pulling up on the spout and the hub it is attached to. This will expose the o-rings on the body of the faucet.

5. Remove the o-rings with your fingers. Remember the order that you removed them.

6. Install the new o-rings in the reverse order that you removed the old ones.

7. Lubricate generously with the provided lubricant.

8. Replace the faucet assembly over the body of the faucet.

9. Screw the bonnet back on by turning clockwise. Hand tighten only.

10. Replace the handle and the screw and tighten the screw with the screwdriver or the hex key, if needed.

11. Turn the water back on by turning the valves counterclockwise until they won't turn anymore.

12. Test the sink to make sure everything is working properly and you don't see any leaks.

Tips Warnings

Be careful with the exterior parts of the sink when you remove them. It is easy to scratch them when working around sharp metal edges.
