Hp Scanjet 8250 Instructions

Preserve memories by scanning old slides and negatives.


Equipped with a built-in transparent materials adapter and a document feeder, the Hewlett Packard Scanjet 8250 flatbed scanner makes scanning just about anything up to 8.5x14 inches possible. The HP 8250 also comes with tools and software that allow for the editing and modification of the scanned images. Scan photos, documents, slides, negatives and more using the HP Scanjet 8250.


Instructions


Scan Image(s) Using the Scanner Bed


1. Place the image face down on the right-front corner of the scanner bed.


2. Open Photo and Imaging Director by first clicking the Start button, followed by All Programs and the Hewlett Packard folder, and then the Scanjet Scanner 8200 Series folder.


3. Click Scan Picture, then select Original from Glass, and then click Scan. The scanner generates an image preview. If desired, crop or modify the image, and then click Accept. Click either Yes or No when prompted about scanning another image. All scanned images appear in the HP Photo Imaging Gallery.


4. Click Save As to save, name and choose the desired format for the image file created.


Scan Image(s) Using the Document Feeder


5. Place the image(s) face down in the scanner document feeder. The scanner must be powered on.


6. Open Photo and Imaging Director by first clicking the Start button, followed by All Programs and the Hewlett Packard folder, and then the Scanjet Scanner 8200 Series folder.


7. Click Scan Picture. The scanner generates a preview of the image. The scanner generates an image preview. If desired, crop or modify the image, and then click Accept. Click either Yes or No when prompted about scanning another image. All scanned images appear in the HP Photo Imaging Gallery.


8. Click Save As to save, name and choose the desired format for the image file created.


Scan Slides Using the Transparent Materials Adapter


9. Open the scanner lid, and then remove the transparent materials adapter (TMA) cover, followed by the negative holder.


10. Open Photo and Imaging Director by first clicking the Start button, followed by All Programs and the Hewlett Packard folder, and then the Scanjet Scanner 8200 Series folder.


11. Click Scan Picture and select Slide from a Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA). Do not click scan until after you load the slides.


12. Place up to three slides into the slide holder, with the front of the slides facing out toward you, and then insert the slide light-shield so it touches the slides. The light-shield prevents the accidental scanning of addition light.


13. Close the scanner lid, and click Scan. The scanner generates a preview of the image. Crop the image and make any additional modifications, if desired, and then click Accept. Click either Yes or No when prompted to scan additional slides. All scanned images appear in the HP Photo Imaging Gallery.


14. Click Save As to save, name and choose the desired format for the image file created.


15. Remove the slides and replace all slide and negative scanner components before replacing the TMA cover.


Scan Negatives Using the Transparent Materials Adapter


16. Open the scanner lid, and then remove the transparent materials adapter (TMA) cover, followed by the negative holder.


17.Open Photo and Imaging Director by first clicking the Start button, followed by All Programs and the Hewlett Packard folder, and then the Scanjet Scanner 8200 Series folder.


18. Click Scan Picture, and select Negatives from a Transparent Materials Adapter (TMA). Do not click scan until after you load the negatives.


19. Remove the negative light-shield from the negative holder and slide a negative strip into the holder carefully so the shiny side faces the scanner glass when the scanner lid is closed. Insert the negative light-shield so it touches the negatives. The light-shield prevents the accidental scanning of addition light.


20. Close the scanner lid, and click Scan. The scanner generates a preview of the image. Crop the image and make any additional modifications, if desired, and then click Accept. Click either Yes or No when prompted to scan additional negatives. All scanned images appear in the HP Photo Imaging Gallery.


21. Click Save As to save, name and choose the desired format for the image file created.


22. Remove the negative and replace all slide and negative scanner components before replacing the TMA cover.


Scan a Document


23. Place the document face down on the right-front corner of the scanner bed or in the document feeder. The scanner must be powered on.


24. Open Photo and Imaging Director by first clicking the Start button, followed by All Programs and the Hewlett Packard folder, and then the Scanjet Scanner 8200 Series folder.


25. Click Scan Document, and select the desired scanning options. Select either Color, Grayscale or Black White document. Choose the scan for editable text/OCR (Optical Character Recognition) option when you want the ability to edit the scanned document. Choose between Save to File, Front Page Editor, Email or WordPad for where the file will be sent once scanned. Select WordPad for performing any editing of the document image. The scanner generates a preview of the document. Crop the document, if desired, and then click Accept. Click either Yes or No when prompted to scan another document.

Click Save As to save, name and choose the desired format for the file created.


Tips Warnings


If you want to scan something larger than the TMA accepts, place the transparency on the glass scanner bed, and then cover with a white piece of paper to prevent the accidental scanning of additional light. Follow the usual scanning instructions.


Negatives are delicate and can be damaged easily. Handle them with care when scanning.
