Make Sea Salt Facials

The high mineral content of sea salts offer a number of benefits for the skin, making them a great ingredient for facials. Sea salts exfoliate, hydrate and regenerate while helping to heal wounds, draw toxins from the skin and even reduce inflammation.

Instructions

1. Create a daily exfoliating scrub for all skin types. Fill a small baby food jar about three-quarters of the way with fine grain sea salt and then add enough water to make a paste. Place a small amount of the sea salt paste onto your fingertips and massage gently into your face and neck. Allow to set for 1 to 5 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

2. Make a daily sea salt facial for dry skin, using the same steps but using olive oil instead of water. This olive oil and sea salt facial should be applied to the skin with gentle massaging motions and left for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and then apply a light oil-free moisturizer.

3. Soften, protect and soothe normal skin by adding 5 to 10 drops of lavender essential oil to a baby food jar three-quarters of the way full of fine grain sea salt. Add 1 tsp. of liquid glycerin and then stir in enough water to make a paste. Apply to the skin with massaging circles and allow the facial to set for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

4. Combat oily skin with a salt sweet facial. In a baby food jar, combine equal parts of raw honey and fine grain sea salts. Add the juice of half a fresh lemon and stir thoroughly. Massage the paste onto your skin and leave for 10 to 15 minutes, rinsing with warm water and patting dry. This sea salt facial should be stored in the refrigerator.

5. Treat acne with a sea salt spot treatment. Place 2 tbsp. of fine grain sea salt in a baby food jar and add 10 drops of tea tree oil and 2 tsp. of liquid glycerin. Stir until you create an even paste and then apply the spot treatment to problem pimples. Allow the facial to set until dry and then rinse with warm water.

6. Fight against wrinkles, sagging skin and under eye circles with another simple sea salt facial. Fill a baby food jar three-quarters of the way with fine grain sea salt and then add 2 tsp. of liquid glycerin, the oil of two vitamin E capsules and 10 to 15 drops of geranium essential oil. Massage onto the skin and leave for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
