A foot detox effectively eliminates body toxins, as our feet possess the largest pores in our body.
A foot detox (detoxification) is a painless and effective method of eliminating toxins from our bodies through the feet. It was made popular in ancient times by Japanese villagers who were rejuvenated after soaking their tired feet in hot springs. Foot detoxification is based on the oriental healing technique of reflexology and benefits our internal organs as well as circulatory and respiratory systems. Several spas provide foot detox treatments that can, however, be expensive. You can prepare a relaxing and effective foot detox within the confines of your home.
Instructions
1. Fill a bath tub or bucket or foot basin halfway with semi-boiling water. The temperature for an effective foot detox should be between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, according to the Detox Body Detox website.
2. Combine 1 cup Epsom salt with 1 cup sea salt and 2 cups baking soda. Store this mixture in an airtight container. The Doc Shop website states that epsom salt is renowned for its healing properties, in drawing toxins out of the body as well as to reduce swelling and bruising.
3. Add 1/4 cup of the salt mixture to the boiling water.
4. Add a few herbs--such as green tea, garlic/ginger/hot pepper, bamboo leaves, dried radish/carrot leaves, corn silk, and citrus peel--to stimulate the detoxification process.
5. Pour in a few drops of the essential oil of your preference to soften rough foot skin.
6. Soak your feet in this mixture, and relax for 25 minutes as your body gently eliminates toxins through the bottom of your feet, which possess the largest pores.
7. Use a natural fiber brush to scrub your feet and further eliminate any toxins that may be clinging to the bottom as well as to remove dead skin cells.
8. Pat your feet dry with a towel, and then apply a natural moisturizing lotion like aloe vera.
