Minor burns are a fact of life. Whether it’s accidentally touching the kitchen stove, the heating element of the hair dryer or styling iron, or getting too close to a match flame, that telltale “ouch” warns that you’ve been burned.Essential oils can be used to treat minor burns. In fact, one of the pioneers of aromatherapy and the use of essential oils for healing purposes first discovered their potential properties when he was burned while working in a lab.
Instructions
1. Choose 100% pure essential oil-only these offer healthful benefits. The label will state "100% pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils. They do not have the same benefits.
2. Select lavender as the best oil for treating minor burns. Lavender is soothing and helps to heal the damaged skin.
3. Run the burn under cold water for a couple of minutes, if possible, to help remove heat. Then dab a drop of the lavender oil directly on the burn. Make sure the oil covers the entire burn area.
4. Wait a few minutes until the oil has dried before touching the area. If necessary, you can put a drop of lavender oil on the gauze patch of a band-aid and put that over the burn to both protect the spot and enhance the healing process.
5. Reapply the lavender oil 2 to 3 times a day until the burn mark starts to heal.
