Avoid Cilantro On Dmsa Days

Some DMSA detox programs suggest avoiding cilantro.

DMSA stands for Dimercaptosuccinic acid, which is commonly used in heavy metal chelation therapy. When an unhealthy buildup of lead, mercury, arsenic and other metals poisons the body, medical practitioners may suggest chelation therapy. However, the use of DMSA for chelation therapy and chelation therapy in general is debated as a legitimate treatment for cancer, Autism, Alzheimer's disease and many other health conditions. Some metal detox programs use the herb cilantro to help in the chelation process and others have suggested completely avoiding cilantro. The latter can be done by avoiding certain recipes or replacing cilantro with another herb or spice.

Instructions

1. Avoid foods that have cilantro in them, such as salsa, cilantro pesto, coriander soups, and certain Mexican-style rice. Check the ingredients label on any packaged foods that you suspect may contain cilantro.

2. Inquire with the waiter or waitress at a restaurant about cilantro-free options prior to ordering. If there is cilantro in the meal you wish to order, ask if it can be made-to-order without cilantro.

3. Replace cilantro in recipes with other herbs and spices. Some good substitutes for cilantro are celery leaves, oregano, parsley, basil, and dill. Cilantro has a unique flavor that cannot be perfectly recreated, but other herbs should suffice.
