Mole Removal Tips

Gone are the days of surgical removal as the only option to remove unsightly or annoying moles. There are now several options available for the consumer, including removal by laser and by natural means. Natural removal is an alternative and relatively safe method of permanent mole removal by applying herb-based substances to the offending mole in the privacy of your home.

Removal by Herbs

There are herb-based topical products on the market that are easy to apply and remove moles over a period of three days to two weeks.

The procedure for removal is straightforward and easy. First, thoroughly clean the area to be treated. Then lightly scratch the mole with a pumice stone or needle in order for the product to penetrate the mole. Apply the mole removal cream that remains on the mole for the set amount of time specified in the product's directions. A scab will appear on the mole within 48 hours, and will fall off naturally after 7 to 10 days. The mole will have been replaced with slightly red tissue---this is typical after a scab has fallen off the skin. There will be clear skin within 30 days of treatment.

Note that this method of removal should not be used on malignant moles. It is highly advisable that you first see a doctor or dermatologist to look over your moles for any malignant ones. These will be dealt with most likely by surgical removal, since malignant moles are fairly deep and not easily removed by topical treatment.

Home-made Remover

There are ways to remove (or at the very least, lighten) nonmalignant moles by using pastes made of natural ingredients of which many are found in your kitchen. Some of these ingredients are ground flaxseed, figs, pineapple, baking soda with castor oil, sour apples, and garlic (used separately, not to be mixed all together). There is no scratching of the mole involved. This method works well for some people, although it is not a sure-fire method for completely removing the mole.

Important Tips

1. Always clean the mole and surrounding skin thoroughly with mild soap and water before applying the product.

2. Apply the pumice stone or needle sufficiently hard so that you feel a stinging sensation as the mole is scratched. If the mole has not "opened up" enough to let the removal cream penetrate, the treatment will not work and the scratching will have to be repeated at another time.

3. DO NOT pick off the scab that forms after treatment. If it is picked off prematurely, there is a greater chance of infection and visible scarring.

4. Keep the skin around the mole removal area clean at all times to minimize the risk of infection.
