Defend Against A Knife Held To The Carotid Artery

Attackers with knives go for your carotid artery because when it’s cut, you can bleed to death. That’s why it’s so important to know respond if and when you are ever in this life-threatening situation. Here’s defend against a knife held to the carotid artery.

Instructions

1. Raise your hands – elbows bent at your sides, palms facing your attacker. While he thinks you’re being submissive, you’re actually preparing to defend against a knife held to the carotid artery.

2. Note which carotid artery your attacker is holding the knife to – right or left. If he’s holding the knife to your left carotid artery, use your left arm and hand to push his wrist down and in toward your chest, which will move the knife off of your neck. You’re not grabbing and pushing his arm away. You’re grabbing and pulling it down and toward you. It is critical that you make this movement as swiftly as possible with no hesitation. That means 100 percent commitment.

3. Punch your attacker’s face with the other hand. Not after Step Two, but simultaneously. So while holding his wrist tight against your chest, punch him in the face.

4. Knee your attacker in the groin, using your punching hand to hold his neck and pull him toward you. When he’s bent over, knee him in the head.

5. Turn your body out toward your attacker’s knife-holding hand and push the weight of your upper body against it. While still holding your attacker’s wrist, use your other hand to pry his fingers off of the knife.

6. Grab the knife, jab at him with it and back away.
