Treat A Facial Burn From A Curling Iron To Prevent Scars

Facial burns are a common problem for people who regularly use curling irons. When curling the hair around your hairline, it is almost inevitable that a slight burn will eventually occur. The natural reaction to hot metal touching the skin is to instantly pull the heat source away. Because of this, burns from a curling iron are rarely worse than second degree. With the proper care, even a second-degree burn can be healed without scarring.

Instructions

1. Submerge your head in cold water for 20 minutes. The easiest way to do this is to plug a sink and fill it with water.

2. Let the burned area air-dry. Do not use a towel as it could irritate the burn.

3. Wash the burned area with mild soap and water twice a day. Rinse all of the soap off to prevent the skin from dehydrating.

4. Apply burn cream after washing the burn. There are many burn creams available over the counter, but you can also visit a doctor for a prescription cream. Cover the burn with a bandage each time you apply cream to it.

5. Let the blister pop on its own if one should happen to form. Popping the blister before it's ready will increase the chances of a scar forming. Carefully cut away the skin from a popped blister.
