Diy Tooth Filler

Fill in cavities with an over-the-counter dental filler until you can see a dentist.

Teeth are prone to cavities as the acid from bacteria wears down the tooth's enamel. Over time the acid causes tooth decay and creates a hollow space in the tooth that leads to a painful sensation when eating or drinking. A decaying tooth requires a filling to remove the decay, fill the space and restore the tooth. If you're unable to visit a dentist, temporary tooth fillers are available on the market. These fillers use dental cement that acts as a makeshift filling until you can see a dentist.

Instructions

1. Brush your teeth for 3 minutes to remove food particles and bacteria from the affected area.

2. Wash your hands with hot, soapy water before handling your teeth. Your hands are covered with germs, and can spread those germs if you touch your mouth, eyes or nose before cleaning them.

3. Scoop a pea-size amount of the dental cement from the dental filling container, and roll it between your thumb and your forefinger to shape it.

4. Press the dental cement onto the cavity, and bite down 4 to 5 times to ensure the cement covers the cavity and shapes to your tooth.

5. Wipe off excess cement, and wait 1 hour for the cement to dry before eating.
