Depression is a very real health issue that can be debilitating. It can not only be painful but can negatively affect so many areas of your life, including your schoolwork. But you can develop some steps to cope to not let depression get in the way of achieving your college degree.
Instructions
1. See a local doctor, or visit the school health services.
2. Contact your professors and let them know that you are struggling with depression, no matter how difficult it is for you to do. Many professors will have noticed that is something wrong, and they are more likely to be sympathetic and work with you if you are honest about it.
3. Contact the college or university's counseling department and make an appointment to discuss your depression with a counselor.
4. Reach out to friends on campus and family members back home for support. Do not isolate yourself.
5. Educate yourself about dealing with depression while in college by reading books and Internet resources.
6. Visit the psychology department at your college or university for additional resources.
7. Join a support group, either in person or online.
