Put On An Abdominal Belt

Recovery after abdominal surgery can be painful and frightening. Resuming daily activities after Cesarean-sections, bariatric surgery or hysterectomies can be difficult. Abdominal belts are often given to patients after surgery to help resume activities like walking, coughing, or using the restroom. Abdominal belts often provide a feeling of comfort to patients who have had abdominal surgery and are in the early stages of recovery.

Instructions

1. Stand in an upright position. This will make application of the abdominal belt easier.

2. Place the top of the abdominal belt just below the navel.

3. Stretch out the abdominal belt with both hands, maintaining the position of the belt below the navel line.

4. Wrap one end of the abdominal belt around the stomach region, making sure to keep the stretch of the abdominal belt.

5. Pull the other end of the abdominal belt over the previous side, ensuring that you stretch out the end of the belt as far as possible.

6. Secure the abdominal belt by pressing the two ends against one another.

7. Check the abdominal belt to make sure that it is tight around the stomach region and not loose.
