Become A Certified Yoga Instructor

Become a Certified Yoga Instructor

If you've practiced yoga, you know the feelings of relaxation and joy that continue long after you've completed your final pose. Becoming a yoga instructor is a difficult but rewarding experience. Here's how you can begin your new career by earning your yoga instructor certification.

Instructions

1. Take as many yoga classes as you can to get yourself in shape for the rigorous training ahead of you. You might also want to throw in weight training and cardio to improve your overall health. A healthy diet will also help to put you in the right state of mind for such a commitment, as well as giving you the energy you'll need to complete your training.

2. Locate a reputable yoga instructor school. You can find a list of schools in Australia, Canada, Europe, Mexico and the United States at yogasite.com (see Resources below). The number of hours required can range from under 100 to more than 500.

3. Once you select a center in your area, look for reviews and/or further information about the school, either online or through yoga publications. If it still sounds like it will work for you, call the school to make the first steps toward enrollment.

4. Complete the school's program and receive your yoga instructor certification. Find a job teaching yoga or, as a hobby, volunteer to teach for free in parks or at schools.
