For instance, ringworm affecting the feet is called Tinea pedis or athlete's foot and that impacting the scalp is referred to as Tinea capitis. The most recognizable symptom of tinea is the appearance of an itchy well-defined patch with light center and red edges giving it the typical ring shape.
