Symptoms Of Gout In The Ankles

Gout is an arthritic condition caused by too much uric acid, which is essentially waste, in a person's blood. Typically, symptoms will flare-up almost suddenly, without any warning or real indication prior to an attack. If left untreated, it can lead to more serious problems with your joints or tendons, especially in the affected area. But there are a number of symptoms of gout, in this case gout affecting your ankles, that can help indicated whether or not you are suffering from this condition.


Swelling


The most common symptom of gout in the ankles will be a swelling or inflammation in the joint within this area of the body.


Tenderness


This swelling is often accompanied by some level of tenderness to the affected ankle. The ankle will usually be somewhat tender to the touch.


Pain


Many times, this tenderness is so intense that it will ultimately become painful even without any pressure placed on the ankle.


Burn


On occasion, a person dealing with gout in the ankle will also suffer from a burning sensation within this particular joint.


Stiffness








Due to the swelling or inflammation, many people dealing with gout in the ankles will also notice a certain amount of stiffness in the joint, limiting or decreasing the ability to bend and rotate this area of the body.
