Treat Dandruff With Aloe Vera

Treat Dandruff With Aloe Vera

Dandruff is a condition of the skin that affects the scalp, causing dry flaky skin. Even after years of research no one is completely certain of the causes of dandruff, neither are there any surefire ways to treat the condition. The good news, however, is that there are a number of different ways to treat dandruff that show promise, and some that don't work for others may very well work for you. Aloe vera is one such treatment.

Instructions

1. Pour some aloe vera oil into your hand. The amount you use will depend on the thickness of your hair and the extent of your dandruff. You'll also need to add more to your scalp if you have certain hair types (very curly, dense or oily, for example).

2. Add tea tree oil to the aloe vera oil. Again, use more or less depending on the severity of your dandruff.

3. Rub your hands together to distribute the mixture on your fingertips and palms.

4. Rub the aloe vera oil and tea tree oil into your scalp with firm but steady pressure. Press it into your scalp where you know dandruff is at its worst (typically on the very top of the head and around the crown.

5. Leave the aloe vera and tea tree oils on your scalp for at least 10 minutes-longer for worse dandruff. If your scalp gets very tingly or begins to exhibit a burning sensation, remove it immediately.

6. Wash your hair as you normally would using your favorite shampoo. When first treating dandruff, it's a good idea to use shampoo only once a day instead of twice as many shampoos recommend. Too many repeats can lead to a drying of the scalp, which is thought to be one of the causes of the condition in the first place.

7. Repeat this treatment process for several days, up to a week, to give it a chance to work. If after a week you are still not seeing results, then you may want to consult a dermatologist to learn about alternatives.
