Make Detox Body Wraps

Make Detox Body Wraps

Body wraps offer many benefits including toning skin, moisturizing dry skin, and detoxifying the body. While there are many ingredients that can be used specifically for detoxifying the body, clay has proven to be the most effective. Bentonite clay works best in drawing out toxins from the body, while also delivering many vitamins and minerals to the skin. Clay body wraps are a long time favorite at spas, but they are also easy to make at home for a fraction of the cost.

Instructions

1. Boil 2 cups of water in a medium-sized pot on the stove.

2. Add 1 cup of bentonite clay, 1/4 cup of sea salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and four drops of essential oil to the boiling water. Several essential oils work well for detoxing the body, depending on your needs. Essential oil of juniper berry detoxifies while reducing cellulite and calming the nervous system; lemon and grapefruit essential oils both are used to detoxify the liver while helping clear the mind.

3. Mix the clay mixture until all ingredients are well blended.

4. Remove the mixture from the stove top and allow to cool for 10 to 15 minutes. While the mixture is cooling, prepare the body for the wrap.

5. Exfoliate the skin with a dry body brush. This will open the pores allowing the mask to penetrate more deeply.

6. Check the temperature of the clay mixture. Once cool, apply the mixture all over the body, starting at the ankles and working your way up.

7. Wrap yourself with towels. This will press the clay mixture deeper into the skin.

8. Lie in a warm room for 45 to 60 minutes. Cover any surfaces with additional towels, in case the clay mixture rubs off.

9. Remove the towels from the skin very slowly. Detoxification of the body can result in dizziness.

10. Rinse off the clay mixture in the shower using warm water. Then dry the skin and apply a moisturizer.
