Homemade Mouth Wash For Dogs

Regular use of dog mouthwash makes for a healthier, fresher-smelling dog.

Similar to human dental health, a dog's dental health can affect its overall health condition and comfort level. Whether your dog simply has a bad case of dog breath or is being treated for dental problems, a homemade dog mouthwash will alleviate unpleasant dog breath as well as add to your dog's dental health.

Instructions

1. Place 1/2 tsp. dried echinacea root and 1 cup water in a microwavable glass bowl. Stir the two ingredients together, and then heat in a microwave for three minutes.

2. Remove the bowl from the microwave and cover it with plastic wrap. Allow the mixture to sit for one hour.

3. Take the plastic wrap off the bowl and pour the solution through a strainer and into the container in which you plan to store the homemade dog mouthwash. Allow the mouthwash to finish cooling before using.

4. Fill a medicine dispensing syringe, the kind used to give babies and small children medicine, with the homemade dog mouthwash. Squirt the mouthwash onto your dog's gums as you hold the lips away from the gums. Most of the mouthwash will dribble out. It's okay if the dog swallows any of the solution.
