Regulate Hormones With Herbs
Although many people associate hormones with the reproductive system, your endocrine system releases small amounts of powerful chemicals in your body that regulate everything from body temperature to how you metabolize your food. If your hormones get out of balance, you can use herbs to help regulate your body's ability to produce or eliminate these chemicals.
Instructions
1. Take 100 mg of dong quai every day. This traditional herb used in Chinese medicine regulates estrogen levels. An estrogen imbalance can cause hot flashes, heavy periods or anxiety.
2. Use Asian ginseng supplements to regulate the adrenal gland's ability to produce stress hormone. You must take between 150 to 350 mg per day. An insufficient adrenal gland can cause agitation and poor immune response.
3. Consider taking Rhodiola rosea extract. Researchers found that this traditional Siberian herb can increase thyroid gland function, which can decrease fatigue and improve mood levels.
4. Add 600 mg of ashwagandha to your supplement regimen. This Ayuvrvedic treatment helps the body deal with stress by increasing the efficacy of thyroid and adrenal hormones in the body.
5. Season your food with rosemary. This resinous herb complements chicken and potatoes, and it can also provide an important antioxidant, carnosic acid. This substance increases the ability of thyroid hormone to act in the nucleus of cells.
6. Treat adrenal hormone insufficiency with licorice extract. The root and candy alone can't help the body use the adrenal hormone cortisol, but you can make a tea from one tsp. of extract and one cup of boiling water.
