Prepare For A Brazilian Wax

What started as an exotic novelty on television shows and in fashion magazines, is quickly becoming more main stream in local spas and salons. The Brazilian bikini wax removes all hair from the pubic area for a cleaner, more sensitized feel To make the experience as comfortable as possible, be prepared before heading off to your appointment.

Instructions

Before Your Wax Appointment

1. Research local spas and salons before setting an appointment. Ask as many questions as you need to feel more comfortable. Be sure your specialist is experienced with the Brazilian wax and not just a regular bikini wax.

2. Be sure the hair to be removed is approximately ¼ inch long. Shorter hair may not hold well and longer hair may be more painful than usual.

3. Purchase a local numbing cream and apply about an hour before your appointment. Apply the cream to your inner thighs and pubic region.

4. About 30 minutes before your appointment take a normal dosage of mild pain medication such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen Sodium.

5. Wear loose clothing to your appointment. Be sure to avoid tight jeans and silk or nylon underwear.

The Procedure

6. Remove your pants and underwear. You will lie down on a table, feet apart and knees up. Some attendants may cover half of your pubic area with a towel and work on the other side.

7. Be sure the specialist wears gloves and uses a fresh wax applicator. It is okay if the bottles of wax appear to have been used before. However, the applicators on the “lids” should be new. Always ask questions if you are concerned.

8. Ask the specialist to add powder to your skin to dry it. This will allow the wax to stick better. If your hair is too long, the wax specialist may trim it at this time.

9. Ask if you can help to make the process any easier. The attendant will wax the top of your pubic bone first. This is the most painful. You may be asked to help hold the skin tight, which gives you a cleaner, less painful experience.

10. Prepare yourself. The specialist will start at the inner crease of your thighs and then move to the pubic area. The anal region is waxed last and is generally the least painful. You may request to omit the anal region if you choose. You may also request a thin strip of hair, the “landing strip,” be left on your pubic bone.

11. Get dressed. He will provide lotion to rub onto your pubic region. This will moisturize the area, which is essential after waxing. It also helps prevents ingrown hairs.
