Sore muscles can disturb sleep, causing insomnia.
Insomnia is the body's inability to fall asleep or to remain in a deep sleep. Insomnia can be caused by stress, medications, alcohol or drug use, depression or anxiety. If we can not calm the thoughts and anxieties that are keeping us awake, it is impossible to obtain a restful, restorative sleep. Health experts estimate that more than 35 million people have difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep throughout the night. Pure and natural essential oils are a healthy alternative to over-the-counter or prescription sleep medications.
Instructions
1. The delicate scent of lavender oil promotes relaxation.
Use the fragrant aroma of lavender essential oil to calm nerves, relieve anxiety and promote a restful night's sleep. Sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil on a cotton ball and tuck it inside your pillow. Add 10 to 20 drops of lavender oil to the final laundry rinse for linens with the delicate scent.
2. Rose oil acts as an effective, calming sedative.
Create a calming and relaxing jasmine bath. Jasmine essential oil is beneficial in the treatment of insomnia, restlessness, depression, nervous tension, exhaustion, stress and breathing difficulties. Add 20 to 30 drops of jasmine oil, 1/2 cup of organic honey and 1 cup of cream to a warm bath. Soak for 20 minutes while deeply inhaling the healing vapors.
3. Chamomile tea encourages restful slumber.
Drink chamomile tea for centering and calming before bedtime. Add 2 or 3 drops of therapeutic grade, organic chamomile essential oil to a cup of decaffeinated green tea. Add lemon and honey for flavor. Sip before bedtime to promote a good night's rest. Chamomile relieves stomach distress, eases anxiety and discourages apathy.
