Chelation For Numbness Headaches And Neck Pain

Chelation therapy is used to remove heavy metals, like mercury, from the body.

The word "chelation" is derived from the Greek word chele, which means "to claw." Chelation therapies use one substance to bind to a substance that is no longer wanted in the body. In most medical uses, chelation is used to remove toxic heavy metals, often mercury, from the body. There has also been some experimentation with chelation therapy to remove cholesterol from the body.

Numbness

Mercury poisoning is one possible cause of body numbness. Although numbness could be a symptom of a wide range of conditions, in the case of mercury poisoning chelation would be indicated as a possible way of treating the underlying condition of excess heavy metal in the body and its symptom: numbness.

Headaches

In cases where headaches are discovered to be caused by underlying vascular problems and those problems are associated with metal, industrial, or heavy metal poisonings, including but not limited to mercury, lead or aluminum, chelation therapy can help. Chelation therapy can remove the base underlying substance in the blood vessels responsible for the headaches and thereby resolve the problem.

Neck Pain

Neck pain can be caused by poor circulation in the surrounding muscles. If the circulation problems are caused by excessive metals, chelation therapy can help restore the blood vessels to more normal health by binding with the toxic metals and allowing for their removal from the body.

Types of Chelation

There are several types of chelation. For example, in cases of heavy metal poisoning, the sodium salt of the crystalline acid C(10) H(16) N(2) O(8), often abbreviated as CHNO, is used to bind to the toxic substances. The body then expels the CHNO/toxin combination. Other, more gentle forms of chelation, often include the vitamins C, E and B along with niacin, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium, gingko bilboa, zinc and sometimes selenium. The exact contents of the chelation therapy depends on what substance a medical practitioner wants to remove from the patient's body.
