Make Laundry Smell Fresh

Make Laundry Smell Fresh

Nothing feels better than starting the day with fresh smelling clothes or crawling in bed at night onto soft, fresh sheets. Sometimes it can be difficult to achieve this little luxury despite using quality detergent and fabric softener. Instead of simply masking the odors with perfume, we want to know that our laundry smells good because it is really clean. Simple, inexpensive steps will give you the freshest laundry possible.

Instructions

1. Choose the appropriate water level for the load size you plan to wash. Add the detergent of your choice and allow the washer to fill completely before adding the laundry.

2. Put the laundry into the water and be sure not to overload. Laundry needs to be able to move freely in the water so impurities can be washed away more easily. If you are uncertain, refer to your washing machine's owner manual for recommended guidelines.

3. Add liquid fabric softener after the washer fills up for the rinse cycle to ensure the liquid can reach all of the laundry and not just reach a few items. Remove the laundry as soon as the wash and rinse cycle is complete.

4. Add a softener sheet if you want the fresh smell more intense. Put the laundry into the dryer for the appropriate amount of time and then remove immediately to avoid wrinkles.

5. Hang or fold the laundry while still warm to lock in the freshness. Place closet deodorizers in your closet and scented sachets in your drawers to maintain a scent longer.
