Manage Urethritis

Urethritis is an uncomfortable condition that occurs most often in women. It is a painful burning sensation in the urethra caused by a bacterial infection. Most often, urethritis is felt during urination. Poor hygiene and frequent sexual activity are just two of the causes. In fact, some people tend to be more prone to urethritis than others. If you suffer from this condition, there are some simple things you can do at home to help cure the problem.

Instructions

1. Sip cranberry juice throughout the day if you have urethritis, or if you are prone to urethritis. It is common for some people to simply experience urethra swelling more than others. If this is the case for you, cranberry juice helps to eliminate bacteria from the urethra and balance your pH levels. Ten ounces a day should do the trick.

2. Drink plenty of water. The normal guideline is six to eight glasses of water per day. Most people, however, don't drink this much. If you have urethritis, water is imperative. It helps get rid of the bad bacteria and cleanses your body.

3. Include plenty of garlic in your meals. In fact, take a garlic supplement for more effect. This is nature's safe antibiotic. It will help kill the bacteria living in your urethra.

4. Eat yogurt with live bacteria. Although it sounds backwards to feed your bacteria infected body with more bacteria, it actually helps to improve urethritis. After the garlic, your body may be low on healthy bacteria. This can leave you open for more infection of the bad. The yogurt helps to fill your body back with healthy bacteria.

5. Abstain from sex when recovering from urethritis. It only makes the condition worse. If you absolutely must have sex, make sure you use a condom.
