Essential Oil Recipes For Stuffy Noses

A stuffy nose can interfere with your ability to breathe and get oxygen, distort your voice, and can be uncomfortable. Essential oils are a relatively inexpensive, all-natural way to quickly relieve a stuffy nose; avoiding the use of pharmaceutical nose sprays or decongestants. Essential oil recipes can be used in a variety of ways, to provide relief at home or on-the-go.

Essential Oils

The following essential oils can be used individually to help clear a stuffy nose or can be mixed together according to your personal preferences: Eucalyptus, Pine, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, Tea tree and Thyme.

When mixing, remember that you only need a few drops of each oil. Consider using them individually first and try mixing oils in order to enhance their effects when they aren't strong enough acting alone.

Methods of Relief

One of the easiest ways to use essential oil recipes for stuffy noses is to simply add a few drops to a cotton ball or handkerchief and inhale them directly. Remember that you should not apply essential oils directly to your skin.

You can also add essential oil recipes to a carrier oil, such as olive oil, sweet almond oil, or jojoba oil, and rub this mixture onto your chest and beneath your nose to provide more constant relief.

Steam alone can help to relieve a stuffy nose, but adding essential oils can greatly enhance these effects, so put a few drops in your steam bath or in a vaporizer to help clear congestion.
