Cinnamon & Honey Folk Remedies

Honey and cinnamon, when combined, are said to be effective for treating common ailments. Honey has antiseptic and antibacterial properties, and cinnamon has stimulative properties. You can make folk remedies using these two foods combined at home to treat a variety of complaints and health issues. Make sure to consult your health practitioner if you have ongoing health issues that cannot be addressed with folk remedies.


Heart Problems and Arthritis


For heart problems, try making a paste of honey with cinnamon powder to put on your toast or bread instead of jellies or jams. Eat this regularly for breakfast. It is said to reduce the plaque in the arteries, and is good for your heart, according to folk lore.


Consuming this paste is also good for strengthening the veins and circulation.


For people with arthritis, take one cup of hot water with 2 tsp. of honey, and 1 tsp. of cinnamon powder three times a day. This is to relieve pain associated with arthritis.


Bladder Infections and Cholesterol


For a bladder infection, take 2 tbsp. of cinnamon and 1 tsp. of honey, and mix with 8 oz. of warm water. Drink once a day, to kill the germs in the bladder and reduce the infection.








For high levels of cholesterol, mix 2 tbsp. of honey with 3 tbsp. of cinnamon and put in your favorite tea. This is believed to relieve high cholesterol levels in a few hours, according to folk lore.


Colds, Stomach Upsets and the Immune System


If you are suffering from a cold, you can take 1 tbsp. of honey with 1/4 tsp. of cinnamon powder three days in a row. This will help ease the symptoms of coughing and clogged sinuses, and help clear the throat.


Take some honey mixed with cinnamon powder for an upset stomach. This may also help to relieve gas in the digestive tract. Sprinkle some cinnamon on a teaspoon of honey before you eat a meal to aid in digestion and ease acidity in the stomach, according to folk lore.


Take honey and cinnamon powder daily to strengthen the immune system. Honey has a lot of vitamins and iron, and protects the body against various bacteria and viruses.


Insect Bites


To relieve the itching from an insect bite, take one part honey and mix in two parts of warm water. Add 1 tsp. of cinnamon powder, make a paste and rub into the affected itchy area. The pain from the itching should start to recede in a few minutes.
