Treat Skin Cancer With Herbs

Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer diagnosed in the United States. However, if caught early, it is also one of the easiest to treat. There are two primary forms of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma and melanoma. In addition to conventional treatment, there are a number of herbs that can be used to ease discomfort, eliminate symptoms and prevent future outbreaks and spreading. Basal cell carcinoma is generally benign, and surgery to remove the cancerous cells can be performed in a dermatologist's office. However, melanoma is often much more serious since it grows much more aggressively. Any suspicious growths should be brought to the attention of a physician and, under his guidance, herbs may be used to eliminate as well as prevent skin cancer growth.

Instructions

1. Apply aloe regularly to skin that is exposed to excessive UV rays to prevent the production of cancerous cells. Aloe has long been a popular treatment for sunburn for its soothing gel and cooling properties. However, this herbaceous plant also contains antihistamines, which prevent the production of several chemicals that nourish cancers. After prolonged exposure to the sun, always apply aloe and a significant amount of vitamin E, which also protects the skin by prohibiting the production of many cancer-nourishing bodily chemicals.

2. Incorporate flaxseed into an otherwise healthy diet regimen. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, flaxseed is a good source of lignans, which have been shown to protect against skin cancer as well as to prevent cancer from spreading toward the lungs.

3. Apply a turmeric poultice twice daily to the cancerous area. Turmeric, commonly found in Indian curry, has been used medicinally for centuries. It is an excellent source of curcumin, a powerful antioxidant that can help minimize cancerous cellular activity as well as purge the body of toxins that increase the chances of future tumor growth. To make a poultice, combine turmeric and water into a thick paste and spread it over the skin. Allow the mixture to seep into the skin for 10 to 15 minutes before washing thoroughly.
