Build A Vaporizer

Build a Vaporizer

A vaporizer is a device designed to heat medical marijuana to temperatures that boils off the beneficial substances into a gas form without causing combustion in most of the plant material. When heated to 338 to 372 degrees Fahrenheit, a THC-rich cloud is produced within the vaporizer that does not contain many of the toxins produced with outright burning. The vapor is also cooler than the smoke produced by marijuana cigarettes, which is easier on the throat of the patient.

Instructions

1. Craft base. If you have the experience to drill holes in glass, the entire vaporizer can be made from glass. If not, a better option for you is to craft the base from wood or particle board. Use the saw to cut the board into an equilateral triangle with 8-inch sides.

2. Attach legs. Dowels can be made into simple legs for the base. Cut holes into the triangular base about 1 inch from the corner that are the smallest size necessary to fit the dowels snugly into place. Then, be sure you insert the dowels so the legs are equal in length and the base sits level.

3. Drill holes for element and tubing. The heating element of the vaporizer will be the soldering iron. Drill a hole in the exact center of the base so the power cord of the iron fits through from the top and the iron is able to site vertically with the hot end facing up. Then, drill another hole, sized to hold the plastic tubing snugly and to make sure it is close enough to the hole for the element that it is within the radius of the glass jar's mouth.

4. Fashion the bowl. The thimble, inverted, becomes your bowl. It can usually be punctured by forcing down on the soldering iron. You can use a pipe screen to separate vaporizing material from directly contacting the heating element.

5. Attach tubing and cover. The plastic tube should fit snugly into the hole next to the soldering iron and should be long enough that you can smoke it easily. A small carburetor hole can be place in the side of the tube to aid your use. The glass jar should be able to comfortably be placed mouth-down on the base and cover the heating element, bowl and tubing.
