Heal Body Pain

Acute or chronic body pain can impact your ability to work or rest. But fortunately, there are ways to remedy pain. Several options are available, and the treatment chosen depends largely on the degree of pain. But whether you choose to heal body pain with home remedies or medication, relief is possible.

Instructions

1. Rest your joints and muscles. Overexertion through exercise or playing sports can trigger body pain. Limit strenuous activities to reduce and get rid of body aches, avoid activities that prompt severe pain.

2. Put ice on painful spots. For acute pain or injuries, apply ice to stop inflammation and pain. Place an ice pack in the freezer until frozen, or drop a few ice cubes in a zip lock bag. Keep ice on sore or painful spots for 10 to 20 minutes. Repeat several times daily.

3. Stay warm. Being cold can also trigger body aches. Wear warm clothes or turn on your heat to raise your body temperature and reduce aches.

4. Get a massage. Muscles tension can cause chronic body aches. Schedule a massage to relieve muscle tension and stop muscle spasms.

5. Experiment with heat. Heat is also an effective remedy for body aches. Soak in a warm bath or relax in a hot tub to relieve muscle aches, joint pain and cramps. If you don't have access to either option, consider a heating pad.

6. Use medication to heal body pain. Take an anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen to ease body pain. These drugs are available without a prescription. But in the case of severe pain, talk to your doctor about a prescription pain reliever such as a steroid or codeine.

7. Apply a topical pain reliever. In conjunction with home remedies and medications, apply a topical heat-penetrating rub to relieve muscle and joint inflammation.
