Register To Be Frozen At A Cryogenics Lab

Cryonics is the science relative to cryonic suspension (freezing a corpse) after death. The theory, which has not been substantiated, is that by freezing a body in a sub-freezing laboratory, future science will be able to resurrect the corpse after thawing. Costs for cryonic suspension at the Alcor Cryonics Lab (one of the largest cryonics labs in the United States), whose headquarters are located in Scottsdale, Arizona, include a minimum insurance policy of $150,000 for whole body preservation. Neuro-preservation (preserving only your head) requires a minimum insurance policy of $80,000. Alternatively, you can pay for the procedure with cash or cash equivalent. Other costs depend upon age and the health condition of the subject to be frozen.

Instructions

1. Plan ahead. Is this really the way you want to depart? Whether it is by burial, cremation, leaving your body to science or cryonic suspension, get the facts. Don’t make a hasty decision. You’ll want to make sure that the cryonics lab you select will be able to financially continue in business for a substantial period of time after you are suspended.

2. Sign with a cryonics laboratory. You should tour the facility before agreeing to be frozen. Employees of cryonics laboratories are usually eager to display their facilities to prospective customers.

3. Pay for the procedure either with cash (or cash equivalent) or with one or more insurance policies.

4. Begin the process with a dead body. This seems to go without saying but there have been instances where a legal issue existed as to whether a person was actually dead before the cryonics process has been started. Most states have laws preventing assisted suicide. Accordingly, legal problems (including possible criminal charges) could arise if attempts to freeze the cryonics subject’s corpse begin prior to actual death. Also, it is important that the subject not be “brain-dead” since cryonics doesn’t purport to reverse brain-death.

5. Support advanced science efforts. The basis for the theory is that cryonics subjects will be able to be revived after thawing out with future advances in medical science. Your support for this science may contribute to such a breakthrough.

6. Thaw out, then take in a movie or ball game. Live it up! You only live twice or three times, right?
