Stretch marks occur on both men and women. While women commonly experience stretch marks during pregnancy, both men and women often get stretch marks throughout their entire lives. Stretch marks occur after periods of rapid growth. They may happen after a growth spurt, weight gain or rapid muscle growth. Thankfully, there are treatments which can get rid of stretch marks for men. Many of the treatments work quickly.
Instructions
1. Talk to your dermatologist about chemical peels. Chemicals applied to your skin react with the top layers to burn them away. Once the top layers regenerate and heal, your stretch marks will be much less noticeable. Generally, it takes a series of chemical peels, repeated every few months, to completely get rid of stretch marks.
2. Get laser therapy. Laser treatments are the most effective means for getting rid of stretch marks. Laser light breaks up the pigment and scar tissue in stretch marks, helping eliminate them. In addition, laser light stimulates collagen production so your skin will look more even in tone as well as firmer and younger.
3. Consider microdermabrasion. A mini sandblast-type device buffs away the top layers of your skin. Your skin will be raw and irritated after treatments but your stretch marks will become less apparent. In addition to getting rid of stretch marks, microdermabrasion promotes a more even skin tone and fewer fine lines.
4. See a dermatologist for a prescription for Retin-A. Retin-A creams encourage skin cell turnover. This means that new skin cells are more quickly produced to replace your older, scarred skin cells. You can expect to see improvements in your stretch marks within a couple weeks if you use the cream consistently.
5. Use hydroxy acids. Some cleansers, toners and moisturizers contain hydroxy acids. The acids aid in skin cell regeneration so your skin will appear fresher, younger and more even-toned. If you use these products regularly, your stretch marks will become less noticeable.
6. Apply scar treatment ointment to your stretch marks. On its own, scar treatment ointment doesn't work very quickly but if used in conjunction with other treatments, it can expedite the healing process. You can find scar treatment ointments in most drug stores. They are available over the counter and usually contain onion extract.
