Put On Color Contacts

So, you've purchased a new set of color contacts, but you don't know insert the lenses. First-time contact lens wearers often have a difficult time. Touching your eyeball isn't normal. However, it's not painful, and most people can insert a lens within a few seconds.

Instructions

1. Before attempting to put in a color contact lens, be sure to wash your hands. Your eyes are sensitive, and if you have anything on your hands such as perfume, lotion or hair care products, your eyes may burn. Water isn't enough. Wash your hands with soap for at least 10 seconds and thoroughly dry.

2. Remove color contacts from package or case. You'll need to slowly open the package or the case. Opening the package or case too fast can cause the lens to fall out.

3. Handle the lens with care. Color contacts are delicate. Once you've opened the lens package or case, take out the lenses one at a time. Examine the lens. Make sure the lens isn't inside-out. Improperly inserting the lens can cause pain and discomfort. In addition, check the lens for tears or lint.

4. Inserting color contact lenses is simple. Position the lens on your right or left index finger. With your other hand, use your index finger and thumb to hold your eye open.

5. Insert the first color contact lens. If you're inserting contact lenses for the first time, you'll likely blink a few times, and it may take several minutes to put on the lens. Endeavor to keep your eyes open wide. While looking in a mirror, gently lay the color contact lens on your eyeball.

6. Check for comfort. Once you've inserted the first lens, blink a few times to ensure comfort and a good fit. You shouldn't feel the lens. If you're satisfied, insert the second lens.
