Since the early 1900s the principle of compensations for employees injured at work has become embedded into statute. Though there are some variations between states, the key principles are the same. To be awarded workers' compensation, the injury must have been caused through the employment. The compensation falls into two categories: medical and indemnity. The indemnity part of the award is mainly compensation for loss of earnings while the medical part covers injuries and medical expenses. Chiropractic care is often given for long-term muscle problems. Chiropractors are trained in the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems, and they treat clients without surgery or painkillers.

1. A medical examination will be necessary.


Seek emergency services or physician care to get immediate diagnosis and treatment for your injuries. Inform your employer about the injury. Check that your employer has taken out appropriate mandatory employer's insurance, either with an individual insurer or an insurance company.


2. Cooperate with the investigation that your employer and the insurance company will carry out on the accident. Check that chiropractic care is appropriate follow-up treatment. Try to get an unbiased opinion. Not all physicians are in agreement about the effectiveness of chiropractic care.


3. Check that chiropractic care is covered in your employer's insurance policy. It has been incorporated into many, particularly since the Workmen's Compensation Commission reported that chiropractic care costs insurers less and gets injured employees back to work sooner than other forms of treatment.
