Many people refer to mini-blinds as venetian blinds and vice versa. The two are virtually the same, with a minor difference: Venetian blind slats are wider than regular mini-blinds. Venetian blinds operate generally the same way that mini-blinds do. Both have pull cords to raise and lower the blinds, and both have a wand to adjust the slant of the blind slats. A few manufacturers use the pull cord to operate the slant as well. The wand operates the directional screw within the top rail of the blind. This screw runs the length of the blind, and controls the blind slant.
Instructions
Tilt Wand
1. Extend the Venetian blind to the closed position with the pull cord. The Venetian blind covers the entire window when fully closed.
2. Locate the tilt wand of the Venetian blind. The tilt wand is usually on the left side of the venetian blind, and connects to a hook within the top rail.
3. Twist the wand counterclockwise with your fingers to raise the front of the slats. Twist the wand clockwise to lower the front of the slats.
Pull Cord
4. Grasp the pull cord with both hands, if your blind does not use a tilt wand. Grasp the front half of the cord with one hand, and the rear half of the cord in the other hand.
5. Pull down on the rear half of the cord to raise the front of the slats.
6. Pull down on the front half of the cord to lower the front of the slats.
Tips Warnings
If you are missing the tilt wand, rotate the hook with a pair of needle-nose pliers until you purchase a replacement wand.
Replacement wands are available at home improvement centers.
