Fluocinonide, a topical drug often sold under the brand name Lidex or Vanos, is used to treat inflammation of the skin. The use of this product can cause a number of side effects ranging in severity based on the individual and dosage.

Fluocinonide is classified as a topical adrenocortical steroid. It reduces inflammation on the surface of the skin often caused by allergies and other conditions. The medication works by specifically blocking certain chemicals in the body that react to infection and cause inflammation.

Users of Fluocinonide have experienced a number of side effects with the most common being dryness and itching. Other common side effects include mild headache, stuffy nose, skin rash around the mouth, and changes in skin color of the treated area. Serious Side Effects


According to Drugs.com, users of Fluocinonide may experience the following serious side effects: burning sensation, extreme hair growth, mouth inflammation, muscle weakness, softening or thinning of the skin, and unusual weight loss or gain.
