Help Leg Aches And Growing Pains Naturally

Leg pains are common in growing children.


Of all the difficulties that come with growing up, perhaps none is more predictable than growing pains. Aches and pains in the legs can be especially uncomfortable as the legs contain the largest muscles and bones in the body. Fortunately, these pains are short-lived and there are several natural remedies to help manage that pain.


Instructions


1. Keep your body well hydrated by drinking water throughout the day. Staying hydrated at all times can help to keep muscles from cramping up.


2. Take a daily vitamin. It is important that children receive the appropriate amount of iron, calcium and potassium. This can be achieved through diet and supplements.








3. Exercise legs daily. Daily exercise and stretching can help to keep the achy muscles and growing pains at bay. Extend the foot and toe as far as possible to stretch the entire leg.


4. Drink tonic water or quinine before going to bed at night. Tonic water and quinine are thought to prevent aches and pains while you sleep.


5. Apply a heating pad to the aching or painful leg muscles. Repeat this throughout the day to provide relief. Moist heat promotes blood flow, which delivers oxygen to sore muscles promoting healing.


6. Soak aching and painful legs in a warm tub with Epsom salts. Epsom salts are a natural pain reliever.


7. Place a cloth that has been soaked in vinegar on the aching leg muscles.


8. Rub the legs with heated mustard oil or coconut oil. The combination of the oils and the massage will sooth the aching muscles and bring pain relief.
