Quit A Diet Soda Habit

There are many people who are addicted to diet soda and it's one food habit that is very hard to break. Once you decide to quit, you'll even experience withdrawal symptoms. When you've made up your mind to quit and are determined to succeed, follow these steps to quit the diet soda habit.

Instructions

1. Get rid of all the diet soda that is in your house and your workplace. If the temptation is not in front of you, you will not be tempted to pick up a can or pour yourself a drink. Throw it all away or give it away; do not leave any in the house even for other occupants.

2. Stock your kitchen with caffeine alternatives for you to ingest when the need arises. Your addiction stems from the caffeine as much as the carbonation. Giving up caffeine is a lot harder and isn't your immediate goal is this process.

3. Drink green tea in place of your usual diet soda. Green tea is healthy for you and will keep your caffeine levels even to make it easier to stay on track.

4. Drink water in combination with the green tea to flush out the sodium that has built up in your system from your habit. The sodium that has built up is unhealthy and needs to go.

5. Take this process one day at a time and it will get easier. Take medicine for headaches as needed to deal with the withdrawal. This is a normal part of the process.
