Natural Way Of Lowering Blood Pressure

If you are suffering from high blood pressure, your physician will put you on medication and ask you to make changes in your lifestyle and diet. While these methods are known to be beneficial in reducing blood pressure, there are also a few natural ways in which you can achieve the same results.

Turmeric, Gingko Biloba and Hawthorn Berry

The curcumin content of turmeric extract contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties that aid in lowering cholesterol, clot prevention, blood flow enhancement and strengthening of blood vessels. All these help in blood pressure control. The same effect results from gingko biloba, which helps in artery dilation and improved blood flow to the brain and from hawthorn berry with properties that assist in unblocking arteries, preventing artery hardening and strengthening the heart's muscles, making it a better pumping machine.

Maitake, Ginger Root and Olive Leaf

The Chinese mushroom extract maitake helps lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure and blood cholesterol, while ginger root enhances circulation and soothes muscles associated with blood vessels. Extract made from the leaf of the olive tree aids in blood pressure reduction and prevention of abnormal heartbeat, or arrhythmia.

Garlic, Indian Gooseberry and Cayenne

One of the most effective natural home remedies for blood pressure reduction is chewing of a garlic clove on an empty stomach and then washing it down with a glass of water. You could also have raisins and garlic together to aid the process. Mix one tablespoon of honey with the same measurement of Indian gooseberry or amla juice and have it early in the morning to better control your blood pressure. Whenever your blood pressure level shoots up, mix a teaspoon of cayenne pepper with a half cup of tepid water and drink it to lower the level.

Fenugreek, Watermelon Seeds, Papaya

Grind watermelon seeds and khas khas in similar proportions to a powder and store it. Have one teaspoon of this powder every day before breakfast. Taken twice a day in the morning and evening for a fortnight (two weeks), it will help bring blood pressure under control, as will a teaspoon full of fenugreek seeds, taken the same way. Other blood pressure remedies include having raw papayas on an empty stomach for seven days.

General Measures

The most effective method for reduction of blood pressure is to exercise regularly and have proper nutrition, to maintain a healthy circulation system and heart. Eat plenty of fruits and green vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, freshwater fish and nuts, which will keep your body in a state of balanced nutrition. Settle for extra virgin olive oil for cooking. Opt for baked, grilled and roasted foods as opposed to fried varieties. Swimming, aerobics, etc., are good exercises for patients concerned about their elevated blood pressure.
