Use Essential Oils To Energize The Body

Use essential oils to soothe or energize.

Essential oil scents are extracted from flowers, grasses, seeds, leaves, roots, barks, fruits, mosses and resins of plants and trees. Certain essential oils have anti-inflammatory properties, some are antifungal, antiviral, mucolytic or bactericidal.

The most highly volatile essential oils evaporate quickly and are known as top notes. These scents tend to have an uplifting and invigorating influence. Essential oils with a lower volatility evaporate slowly and are known as bass notes. These oils tend to have a calming and sedating influence.

Medium range volatility oils can stimulate and regulate main body systems. Essential oils help balance emotions through sense of smell. Carolyn L. Mein, D.C., author of "Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils," says physical conditions and emotional patterns have a vibrational frequency. Further, smell accesses the brain where emotional trauma is released.

Instructions

1. Start the day with an invigorating blend of rosemary and basil. Load a diffuser with the essential oils and plug it into an automatic timer.

Energize the body in the morning shower with a loofah scrub, incorporating a blend of thyme, savory and tea tree essential oils.

Follow the shower with a moisture-locking blend body oil of your favorite fragrances.

2. Place a tissue moistened with a drop of thyme essential oil on the dashboard of your car to stimulate alertness and your senses while driving.

Carry a vial of peppermint oil to help keep you alert and your breath fresh throughout the day by placing a drop of the oil on your tongue.

Get an extra boost before an important meeting by placing a drop of rose oil on your tongue.

Place a tissue moistened with clary sage essential oil on the dashboard of the car to help you unwind emotionally at the end of the day.

3. Add a few drops of chamomile, neroli and marjoram in the evening bath.

For a warming bath, use black pepper, myrrh, sandalwood, Peru balsam and ginger.

For those days when everything hurts, take a hot steaming bath with eucalyptus, geranium, clary sage and juniper.
