Remedy For Side Effects Of Radiation

Radiation therapy for cancer has a lot of wasting side effects that can leave a patient tired, suffering from nausea and unable to perform the simplest of tasks. A lot of different remedies, both legal and illegal, can help a person through these side effects.

Natural Remedies

If you are experiencing excessive nausea, try eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. Always use fresh or frozen foods as opposed to canned. Experiment with new flavors that do not offend your stomach. Eat high calorie foods that are healthy such as nuts and granola to keep energy up. For muscle pain try going to an acupuncturist to alleviate muscle stress.

THC

One of the more controversial methods for relieving the side effects of radiation therapy is the use of medical marijuana. One of the most prevalent side effects is a loss of appetite due to nausea. THC, the element of marijuana that causes a high, also promotes appetite. THC also has a numbing effect and can help relieve the deep muscle pain associated with chemotherapy. THC can be found in a pill form if smoking is not advisable. Medical marijuana is still illegal in most states.

Herbal

Several herbal remedies are available to help alleviate the side effects of chemotherapy. Siberian ginseng is an herbal remedy best for helping elevate immunity, increasing stamina and helping aid in better oxygen circulation. Olive leaf extract contains flavanoids which is good as an anti-inflammatory and can help alleviate swelling. Olive leaf extract also aids in strengthening the immune system. Centella asiatica is known as an energy herb. It contains calcium and iron and aids in collagen formation in weak bones.
