Stay Alert At Work

Whether your job includes chain saws or computers, you need to stay alert!

No matter what type of job you have, you need to be able to focus and stay alert. But sometimes an afternoon slump or a late night can make it rough. Here are some steps to help you stay alert at work.

Instructions

1. Make sure you are drinking enough water. If not, you can become dehydrated without even knowing it. As a result, you'll end up in a slump. Staying hydrated will help you stay alert. Aim for six to eight glasses of water each day.

2. Take a walk. This is especially important if you have a desk job. You will increase blood flow and oxygen to your brain, making you more alert.

3. Lay off the sugar and white flour. While sugar and baked goods might give you a temporary rush, you will end up crashing later. Keep your blood sugar level by eating several small, balanced meals throughout the day.

4. Turn on the radio. Listening to some uplifting music will immediately help you feel more alert.

5. Sometimes nothing but sleep will help you feel alert. If you have tried everything else and nothing seems to work, take a short nap! Fifteen to twenty minutes is ideal; more than that and you will go into a full sleep cycle and wake up feeling groggy.
