Natural Remedies & Causes Of Post Nasal Drip

Post nasal drip is no simple condition, and it can be caused by many things. Products on the market right claim to alleviate the symptoms and cure post nasal drip, but there are also products available in your home that work. With a few tips on how you can get and relieve post nasal drip, you'll be healthy again in no time.

Dairy and Blowing Your Nose

It seems too simple to be true, but many cases of post nasal drip can start with an intolerance to dairy or neglecting to blow your nose when mucus build up occurs. Blowing the nose eliminates your excessive post nasal drainage, which when backed up will cause post nasal drip. Also dairy may be the culprit since humans can receive mold and bacteria build-up from the lactose in cows' milk.

Salt Water Gargle

This remedy is popular for the reason that salt helps clear post nasal drainage. Gargle 1/2 tsp. of salt in an 8 oz. glass of water for a clearer voicebox and declining nasal drip symptoms.

Warm Fluids

Fluids keep the lining of the mucous moist and help the cilia function properly. Try warming a cup of water and place a juice of one lemon or a pouch of herbal teal inside. The key to this remedy is be constantly drinking, warm fluids work well as they encourage mucous to clear the throat lining and dissolve what mucous is lingering in the upper pharynx. Fluids in general are an excellent course of action against post nasal drip.

Avoid Stress

By getting worked up over a stressful event, the parasympathetic nervous system will produce more mucous than it needs to maintain the lining for the nose. This will lead to post nasal drip unless you are calmed and the system regulates itself again.
